Money, Gold and Nothing

I sit here with a dollar bill on my desk and ponder the silent story I see before me. I
think of all the things that people go through to have access to this fairly small piece of paper. I close my eyes and see the souls of those that are spending this moment incarcerated for stealing the relatives of this small one dollar bill. Men and woman have killed to have this and possibly even more have died to prevent them from being taken from their possession. The dollar bill holds a story that we all share, but seldom really know.
We read about how our economy is not doing well. The "value" of the dollar is down and it is getting harder and harder to be able to "earn" a dollar. The wealthy among us have piles of this paper scattered all around the world and the paranoid have it stashed under their mattress. The Federal Government borrows it and prints it before they ship it out in armored cars. The government taxes us and then takes it from us to give to someone else they feel is more deserving.
We go to work and spend hours upon hours trading our life's clock away in exchange for a set wage. The clock ticks and we all chase the dollar throughout the day. Once I was asked how different would my life be if I did not have to pursue, work or chase the almighty dollar. Some say money does not buy happiness, but it more than likely can be a decent down payment. There are those that say "the love of money is the root of all evil" which is a really profound statement to make, if you stop a moment to think about what is being said.
They one thing we really have never thought about is that money is really nothing. The government prints some paper and there is nothing of value that backs it, other than the fact that the government says it is worth a dollar. This is the same government that allows babies to be killed and wars to be fought and people to be executed. This is the same government that does not have enough money to pay their own bills, with the paper only they are allowed to call money.
The one lasting thought I would like to part you with is WHY do we believe it is worth anything? Why do we work countless hours to obtain a piece of paper that is only worth something because the government, who has nothing, says it is worth something?
I would like to spend more time writing about this, but I have to go to work so I can earn enough money to live. Then, I think I never have enough money, and I really start to spin when I ponder that what I do not have enough of...... is actually...............worthless.

Imagine a world without money, people working because they enjoy working and contributing their labor to better the world. I know I'm a dreamer but dream on what's wrong with dreaming the impossible dream.Dream on, Dream on, that is what really keeps us all going each and every day!
Mr. Keith, good to read you again. The book of bob's states all is a facade so why not money which is the ultimate facade. The world , since day one of mans creation by any source we want to adopt, evolves all about one word - greed. If and that if is significant, if we really wanted to sit down and apply common sense, basics to any issue of the past or present one will see that clear as day in all we do every day no matter what it is we are involved in. True perhaps to lessor degree's but none the less there. No here is the kicker 99% will argue and say that just isn't so, reality and fact and give explanation after explanation but and the but is significant if you look with the yes of truth and common sense it really all does make sense. Best wishes.
